Violin by Ernst Heinrich Roth Markneukirchen 1937 , Strad 1700 Copy
This 1937 E.H. Roth violin has a very smooth and polished texture to its sound. It responds quickly to the players input with a deep rich tone. Instrument is in a great state of preservation, with lovely red varnish. From a very deseriable time during this workshop output.
A prolific and master maker, Ernst H. Roth (1877 – 1948) produced a vast number of high quality instruments, each with individuality and fine attention to detail. Though his father was already an established maker in Markneukirchen, Ernst travelled to various countries to perfect his technique. Later, he opened his own workshop and was aided by a number of apprentices. It is believed, however, that the best sounding instruments were crafted from beginning to end by Ernst himself.
