At Los Angeles Violin Shop, we are committed to supporting your musical journey, whether you’re just starting out or ready to invest in a professional-grade instrument. As you progress, the right instrument is essential for your growth, and our Trade-In Program makes upgrading seamless and rewarding.

Trade-In Program

We encourage you to take advantage of our generous trade-in credits, whether you’re moving up in size or embarking on a professional career. We accept any instrument or bow purchased at our shop for full trade-in value, provided you have the original receipt. Please note that a re-conditioning fee will apply to cover necessary repairs and new strings. To ensure proper evaluation, all trade-ins must be brought to our store in person. We are currently unable to process trade-ins remotely or by mail.

Re-Conditioning Fees

The reconditioning fee is required to cover the time, labor, and materials necessary to restore your instrument to a condition that makes it sellable. 

Instruments

• • Violin: $250 or 10% of the original purchase price (whichever is greater)
  • Viola:  $350 or 10% of the original purchase price (whichever is greater)
  • Cello:  $450 or 10% of the original purchase price (whichever is greater)

Bows

• • Violin & Viola & Cello Bows : $200 or greater depending on condition   

Trade-In Value

You can apply 100% of the trade-in value towards up to 70% of the retail price of your new instrument.

Exclusions:

• Trade-ins for Franz Carmen or used rental instruments are not eligible.
• Instruments or bows on consignment or from specific makers may not qualify.

Terms and Conditions

• The original instrument must have been purchased directly from Los Angeles Violin Shop or our online store.
• Trade-ins must be completed at our physical store location. 
• LA Violin Shop reserves the right to facilitate the trade of instruments and bows subject to a current appraisal conducted by Owen Lee. 
• Trade-in credits are applicable only for the same type of instrument (e.g., violin credit can only be used for another violin).
• Trade-in credits cannot be combined from multiple instruments.
• Trade-in credits are not valid for discounted items, special offers, or in conjunction with other discounts.
• A depreciation fee may be applied for instruments with significant damage (e.g., cracks).
• LA Violin Shop reserves the right to modify policies at any time and to refuse trade-ins based on the condition of the instrument or bow.
