Luthier / Violin Technician

LA Violin Shop | On-site | Koreatown, Los Angeles | Part-time/Full-time

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled luthier to join our shop and work hands-on with violin-family instruments. You’ll handle repairs, adjustments, and restoration work, and you’ll grow your craft alongside experienced makers. Training is part of the job, so if you’re a sharp observer and a fast learner, we want to hear from you even if you haven’t worked on violins before.

What You’ll Do

  • Set-up, adjust, and maintain violins and related string instruments

  • Perform woodworking tasks such as shaping, carving, fitting, and finishing

  • Set up instruments, including bridges, soundposts, pegs, and nuts

  • Inspect instruments and diagnose structural or acoustic issues

  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and keep tools in excellent condition

  • Learn new techniques and take on increasing responsibility over time

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 3-5+ years of woodworking experience

  • Strong visual understanding: a sharp eye for shape, proportion, and fine detail

  • Ability to learn quickly and take feedback well

  • Precision, patience, and pride in craftsmanship

  • Ability to work on-site at our shop

Nice to Have

  • Certificate or training from a violin-making school

  • Prior experience with violin-family instruments

  • Bilingual in English and Korean

No Violin Experience? Still Apply

Strong woodworkers who learn fast and have a good eye are welcome. We’ll teach you the violin-specific skills.
