Gennaro Januarius Gagliano (1690-1771) was a prominent member of the Gagliano violin making family but was not very prolific compared to brothers Ferdinando and Niccolò. He generally followed a Stradivarius model but Gennaro followed his artistic sensibilities rather than inflexible neatness. Gennaro produced a subdued varnish that none of his family members were able to reproduce.
