Violin Labeled Gagliano Germany 1900
Wide Range with Clarity for Soloists
This violin, a Germany replica of a Gennaro Januarius Gagliano model, offers a wide tonal palette suited for a player seeking warmth, brilliance, and responsiveness. The lower register is warm, supple, and robust, providing a solid foundation of sound. As the pitch ascends, the violin becomes pure and brilliant while maintaining a smooth, direct quality throughout its entire range.
Exceptionally responsive and powerful, this instrument speaks with ease, offering both comfort and dynamic range to the player. The E string, in particular, plays most brightly in tone and power.
There is a well-balanced relationship between the resonance of the body and the clarity of the strings, resulting in a full, resonant voice. Fitted with Evah Pirazzi Gold strings to enhance warmth and tonal complexity, this violin is a compelling choice for a solo performer.
Gennaro Januarius Gagliano (1690-1771) was a prominent member of the Gagliano violin making family but was not very prolific compared to brothers Ferdinando and Niccolò. He generally followed a Stradivarius model but Gennaro followed his artistic sensibilities rather than inflexible neatness. Gennaro produced a subdued varnish that none of his family members were able to reproduce.
