The Klotz family is a distinguished lineage of the violin makers in Mittenwald, Germany. Their name is synonymous with “the Mittenwald School” as their enormous output and excellence in craftsmanship made a lasting impact on violin trade and tradition. Sebastian Klotz (1696 – 1768) is argued to be the finest luthier in the Klotz family with his precise and graceful models combined with excellent purfling and edgework.
