Violin by Jerome Bonaparte Squier Boston 1903
This violin, crafted at the turn of the century, is a warm, well-balanced instrument perfect for both professional players and collectors. Its lower register is rich and resonant, offering impressive depth of character. Moving through the middle register, the sound blossoms with vibrancy and sweetness, while the upper register sings with a silky, luminous tone.
With its focused projection and quick response, this violin excels in both solo and chamber settings. The slightly smaller neck enhances playability, allowing for comfortable access to challenging passages. The varnish has developed a beautiful, strong patina that belies its age. Currently fitted with Dynamo Strings, this violin is optimized for performance.
Craftman Jerome Bonaparte Squier (1838 – 1912) immigrated from Britian and eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts where he established his workshop. Most of his instruments were based on Stradivarius models and were reputed to have a clear and brillant tone. Squier made over 600 instruments and taught his sons the violin making trade.
