Violin by Anne Valon, Cremona 1981
Research continues into this enigmatic violin, labeled as the work of Anne Valon of Cremona. While our interest is piqued by the indication of a Cremona-based female luthier in the 1980's, we've been unable to learn anything substantiative. We can however appreciate this violin's abundant output of sound and it's powerful projecting voice in all registers. This is an instrument that has been robustly designed for sound production and carrying power and this violin has those qualities in abundance. Additionally, it's tone is sweet and mature and it comes to us in an exceedingly good state of health. It is covered in a glorious coat of red-gold-orange varnish and in keeping with the Cremonese aesthetic, it is un-antiqued. This violin has been expertly setup by our workshop staff and we look forward to pairing it with an advanced or professional player.
