Violin Bow by Marcel Lapierre, Mirecourt 1955

Marcel Charles Lapierre (1907–1979) was a French bow maker born and active in Mirecourt who trained with Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy from 1921 to 1923 before working for many leading figures of the twentieth-century Mirecourt school, including François Lotte, Charles Louis Bazin, and the Morizot frères. In 1946 he briefly worked with Émile Auguste Ouchard, then moved to Geneva to work for Pierre Vidoudez, returning to Mirecourt in 1948 to establish his own workshop, where he remained active through the 1970s. Bows from the first decade of his independent work are especially prized for their refined, squarish heads, Ouchard-influenced frogs, and Hill-style underslides, while later work tends to be heavier; like Ouchard, Lapierre often branded his bows on both sides of the stick.

This bow retains all of its original parts and is in a good state of preservation.
