Viola Bow by Roger Zabinski, Minneapolis
In 1973, where Roger Zabinski studied violin making and bow making under Vaido Radamus at the University of Minnesota. He later apprenticed with internationally known bowmaker Martin Beilke in Minneapolis until Beilke’s death in 1979, and in 1984 studied French bow-making techniques with William Salchow at the New Hampshire Bowmaking Course. Zabinski was elected to the American Federation of Violin and Bowmakers in 1985 and received his journeyman’s certificate the following year, was awarded a Gold Medal for a violin bow at the 1986 Violin Society of America International Competition along with numerous Certificates of Workmanship, and in 2011 was elected to the Entente Internationale des Maîtres Luthiers et Archetiers d’Art.
