Born in Mirecourt, Victor François Fétique (1872–1933) apprenticed with Charles Claude Husson and trained further under Sigisbert Maline, Émile Miquel, and Nicolas Bazin, whose influence is evident in his early bows with narrow heads and mitered heels. After moving to Paris in 1901 to work for Caressa & Français, he spent twelve formative years refining his model, incorporating elements associated with Claude Thomassin. Fétique established his own workshop in 1913 and produced bows in significant numbers from 1915 until his death, often with assistance from Mirecourt makers such as Albert Thomassin and Louis Morizot père, who supplied roughed-out sticks for finishing in Paris. His mature work is characterized by small, regular heads, round frogs with Peccatte-style throats, and one-piece buttons with two pins.
This bow retains all of its original parts and has been repaired before.
